Recent Sins

In the past month, I've photographed three of the awesome Sins Girls: Jessica, Poth, and Marci.  All three shoots went amazingly, and I'm so happy to have such awesome people to work with.  We have more shoots planned, and I have great ideas for when I get my new wig in from Geisha Wigs.  I think I'll be purchasing more wigs in the near future, to give us even more variety to work with.  I also hope to work more with local designers!  But, for now, my lovely Sins Girls.

Jessica and I had been talking about a Lady Bathory shoot for awhile, and with the help of MUA Ashley Crewl, Rev and Mike of Only Flesh, the guy who lent us a bathtub, and my boyfriend Damien,  we made it happen!  It was cold, lightly raining, and the neighbors were on their back porch which overlooked the fenced in Flesh Farm yard.  The suspension rig was so tall that Damien (who is 6ft and was on a ladder) had issues getting a light on it; Jessica took at least two showers, her contacts accidentally but happily turned red; and we must have carried 50 gallons of water from the house to the tub in the yard.  It was a kind of crazy night, but we had a lot of fun and have the photos to prove it!

A few days after shooting with Jessica, we reviewed photos and learned Poth would be in Butler, where I live, that evening.  I met up with her at the mall, and she came back to my house for an impromptu shoot.  It was the first shoot in my new home studio, which was super exciting!  We used one of my wigs to pull her look together, and I firmly believe she NEEDS this haircut.

And then, this weekend, I did another studio shoot, this time with Marci.  We'd never worked together before, so it was new and exciting.  PLUS, I just painted my living room, so we shot in there a bit too, using the beautiful natural light from my windows, which I love.  Marci has amazing ideas, and I can't wait to help make some of them come to life.

Ashtabula

In September, I went up to Ashtabula, Ohio for a big shoot with a ton of models - some Sins Girls, some who just came to hang out and take pictures.  There were some setbacks, but all in all, it was a good time and I met some great people.

First we went to Lake Erie, where we shot on and around the beach.  There were tons of different spots at the park to photograph the girls!

Can you believe all of those were taken at the same location!?  It was a pretty sweet place, lots of options.  The last two, of course, aren't models, but a couple of the other photographers who were there that day.  Normally I feel competitive with other photographers, but this was a fun, relaxed environment and we had a bit of a camaraderie going on.  We compared gear, and I did these quick shots of them to show off my f1.4 85mm lens and my fisheye (maybe a bit of the competitive side still came out).

Next, we went to an abandoned train station.  It was THE BEST.  I loved it!  So much inspiration there, I was very disappointed when it started to get dark and we left.   More on that later....

For real, the train station was the best.  I love those sort of places.  We made our way back to our hotel room to do some pictures there, but I wasn't feeling very inspired by the room, so didn't shoot much.

The next day, we scouted another location but I wasn't feeling it, so two of the girls, Maura and Toshie, went with me back to the train station for our final shoot, because we all felt we hadn't gotten to spend enough time there.  It was, once again, amazing.

I know it took me ages to get these photos online, so thank you, ladies, both for modeling and for your patience.  You're awesome.

Sins Girls

I recently started shooting for a modeling group known as Sins Girls.  My friend Jessica, whom I met through Only Flesh, is a model for them and the Pittsburgh area manager.  She asked if I could do some shoots and I was pretty excited, as it had been awhile since I photographed models.  My first Sins shoot was with Jessica herself, and it was amazing.  Definitely one of the best shoots I've ever done.  We went to a state park near my house and took absolutely beautiful photos, I'm so proud of what we made.  We even submitted them to Alternative Revolution Magazine, and got in!  The magazine just came out and I have to go get a copy immediately!

We started out in the woods and took some fun photos with the cow skull I recently picked up for ten bucks at a yard sale.  During this time, some park rangers came over to make sure we weren't up to anything naughty.  Of course not!!  Not yet, at least....

Then we went to the lake and found ourselves a nice, secluded, swampy area.  Jessica and I had discussed doing something really muddy and messy, so this was the perfect spot.  She got naked and muddy, I got stuck in jagger bushes and the mud and nearly lost my boots, we were almost seen by a passing sailboat....it was an awesome day!

Not long after my shoot with Jessica, I met up with a couple more Sins Girls, Cara and Joy.  We drove to Erie, where we were supposed to have a shoot with some others, but that didn't happen.  It was ok though, because we had a blast!  We were practically eaten alive by bugs when we left the Presque Isle beach in favor of the woods (though found a frog!) so quickly returned to the beach.  It was a great time.  I've photographed both Jessica and Joy since, and hope to shoot with Cara again soon!  Making new friends is the best!
